"She might as well be from the Moon" (A short reflection)
The statement made by Jack is utterly exaggerated. He made a comparison between his current proximity to his mother and being on the moon. This seems like he is regretting not doing something while his mother was still alive. It explains the separation in time that cannot be reversed because death physically separated them.
It is well known that once we begin to want something or someone, that is when we begin to calculate the distance between them.
Therefore, I recognized that I must first and foremost embrace myself in order for me to not repeat this phrase in a regretful manner. For me to live a life that is worth living, accepting who I am, means embracing my identity, culture, and heritage. Because I think these things make me more connected to others around me, especially my family.
